Sheona Della-Fort: Bringing people, places and spirituality together

A Snapshot of Me

I was born in Yorkshire, England, but since then I have lived in diverse countries such as Sri Lanka, Australia and Canada and worked, travelled or volunteered in other locations. Over 34 countries in fact and that means collecting a rich tapestry of cultural and spiritual contexts; a love of diverse people groups and a bucketful of lasting memories. Did I mention a love of food and dance too...

Worked with prisoners, soldiers, indigenous tribes, artists, survivors of suicide attempts, the police, mental health charities, inter faith groups, cleaners, refugees, businesses, asylum seekers; street kids, survivors of domestic and sexual abuse and a whole lot more...

Worst things people have said about me:  'You will never amount to anything much'' or  'You are a dreadful artist' and 'You went to the wrong school' or 'Why are you associating with them'. I've had worse things said to me, but they are unprintable. It hasn't stopped me.

Best things people have said to me: An elder of the Maasai tribe said at my leaving ceremony in Kenya 'Our children's children will remember you for what you did.'

An Elder of the First Nations Community in Canada said: 'The Creator brought you to Canada.'

A Strategic Global Consultant; ' I have never met a person like you and I have met a whole load of people from across the world.'

An RAF Welfare Officer and Senior Forensic Psychologist: ' You have compassion'.

A Bishop: ' We would like to explore vocation with you'

A Prison Governor: ' I wish I had your courage'

Best thing I like about myself - I am still alive inspite of having being born with a heart defect and survived war and other traumas. Being chased by elephants didn't help either... At the age of 52, I had the opportunity to finally study at postgraduate level a transpersonal psychology called Psychosynthesis Psychology. Victor Frankl, an Austrian psychiatrist once observed in his epic book, Man's Quest for Meaning that It wasn't the people who were the most fittest that survived, but those who had a reason why...'
