Spiritual Awakening

06/08/2022

I began to experience numinous or spiritual experiences at the age of around  seven years of age and didn't know what they were . I  didn't tell anyone as I thought it was normal.

When I worked at a prison mental health and therapeutic facility I understood how these experiences can be pathologized which can be distressing for the experiencer.

Sometimes even being in a religious setting can be traumatic if other people don't understand what is happening to you or they don't have the knowledge to understand the experiences.  Sometimes this can feel like a lonely journey as you don't have the language to articulate what you are experiencing.  Especially in Western cultures where knowledge of the bible is paramount to Christian beliefs and practices or you don't want to be considered 'mad'. Everyone's journey of life is unique and spirituality means different things to different people.

In 2020 I started to experience even more awakenings and understood the meaning of unitive consciousness. I did not deliberately seek these experiences but they happened to me.  I am very grateful for the psychosynthesis institute for helping me  navigate these experiences.

Currently, I am completing an MA in Psychosynthesis Psychology with the Institute and I am an Authorized Pioneer in the Church of England. I am open to all faiths and none.

I found Isabel Clarke's website very helpful when navigating my journey through a faith perspective.
